Extrusion and sorting equipment orders are rebounding across Germany's plastics machinery sector, with recycling lines the fastest-growing segment.
By PlasticBasket Editorial
Germany's plastics and rubber machinery sector is reporting a broad order recovery after two subdued years, with recycling technology the clear growth leader. Washing lines, deodorization systems, melt filtration, and high-output regranulation extruders are seeing the strongest inquiry levels, driven by European recycled-content mandates and brand owner procurement programs.
Machine builders note a structural shift in customer profiles. Alongside established recyclers expanding capacity, petrochemical groups and large converters are entering recycling directly, ordering integrated lines with laboratory-grade quality control to meet food-contact qualification requirements.
Injection molding machine demand is recovering more slowly, led by medical technology and packaging applications, while automotive-related orders remain selective. Energy-efficient all-electric machines are taking a growing share of replacement investment as processors respond to electricity costs and corporate emissions targets.
Export markets remain decisive for the sector. Machinery builders report firm demand from India, Southeast Asia, and the Middle East, with financing conditions — rather than end-customer appetite — most often cited as the gating factor on order conversion.
PlasticBasket covers polymer markets, recycling developments, sustainability regulation, and supply chain intelligence across the global plastics ecosystem.
